President Bola Tinubu has commissioned the newly constructed Mabushi Bus Terminal, declaring it a major milestone in his administration’s efforts to modernise public transportation, enhance security, and boost economic opportunities in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Speaking at the commissioning on Tuesday, President Tinubu hailed the terminal as a “transformative project” that will bring order, safety, and efficiency to Abuja’s transport system.

“For too long, our beautiful capital city has grappled with the challenges of an informal transport system, leading to traffic congestion and, regrettably, the menace of ‘one chance’ crimes.

“With this terminal, we are taking decisive steps to ensure our citizens no longer have to endure unsafe and unregulated transport conditions,” he said.

The Mabushi Bus Terminal, one of three such facilities in the FCT, was designed to replace chaotic roadside pick-up points with a structured, secure, and well-monitored transport hub.

President Tinubu, who was represented by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, emphasised that the terminal will help curb criminal activities linked to unregistered vehicles while providing commuters with a comfortable and efficient travel experience.

“No longer will our citizens be left to the mercy of impromptu pick-up points. They will now have a secure, well-regulated environment to board their vehicles, knowing that both the drivers and the vehicles are known and registered,” he said.

The President revealed that the construction of the terminal and its sister projects created over 3,000 direct and indirect jobs, providing livelihoods for artisans, labourers, and other workers.

“This initiative has put food on tables and rekindled hope for countless families,” Tinubu said, reiterating his administration’s commitment to job creation under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The terminal is equipped with cinema halls, relaxation areas, and commercial spaces, offering more than just transport services.

President Tinubu described it as a facility befitting a modern capital city, “This is not just a place to catch a bus; it is a modern facility designed for the comfort and convenience of our people,” he said.

He specially commended the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for his leadership in delivering the project, describing him as a visionary committed to infrastructural excellence.

“His dedication and relentless pursuit of excellence have been instrumental in bringing this project to fruition,” Tinubu said.

He also lauded Planet Projects, the contractors, for their professionalism and timely delivery.

President Tinubu urged transporters and commuters to fully utilise the facility and adhere to regulations, emphasising that the terminal marks the beginning of a new era in Abuja’s public transport system.

“We are opening a new chapter for public transportation in Abuja. This is a clear demonstration that our Renewed Hope Agenda is not merely a slogan, but a lived experience for our people,” Tinubu added.
